Total clearance and three new buyers at 2012 On-Property Ram Sale

In a environment where commodities aren’t returning nearly as much as they were 12 months ago, we were really pleased to see such strong support from both new and repeat clients at our 4th annual on-property ram sale on October 19.

There was a total clearance of the 60 14-month-old rams, selling to a top of $3300 and averaging up slightly on last year at $952. The top-priced ram of the day was sold to one of three new clients, Andrew Hundy (pictured, left, with the Brien family) Mudgee, and we thank him very much for his support. The top-priced ram, Bella Lana 82, was a son of Wallaloo Park 700 and featured Australian Sheep Breeding Values (ASBVs) of +6.1 Yearling Weight (YWT, Top 20% of the breed), +1.0 Yearling Eye Muscle Diameter (YEMD, Top 30%), and +0.6 Yearling Fat (YFAT, Top 20%). His wool tested 17.8 micron, 2.5 Standard Deviation (SD), 13.8 Coefficient of Variation (CV), and 99.0 Comfort Factor (CF).

Volume buyers on the day were the Thompson and Clark families, Bakers Swamp, who together bought 13 rams to top at $900 and average $654. They went on to purchase seven Grade Rams after the sale.

We sold 22 Grade Rams after the sale, with a further 100 available for purchase. If you are interested in purchasing Bella Lana Grade Rams, please contact Scott to arrange an inspection.
